Ford F-150 towing capacity
Ford's RV & Trailer Towing Guide puts the maximum towing capacity of the 2020 F-150 at 13,200 lb with the 3.5L EcoBoost and the Max Trailer Tow Package. The redesigned 2021 F-150 tows up to 14,000 lb with the same engine, 13,000 lb with the 5.0L V8 and 12,700 lb with the new 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid. Towing depends on cab, box, axle ratio and packages, so each version page lists the maximum for its engine and the payload that goes with it.
F-150 MPG and fuel economy
EPA ratings for the 2020–2021 F-150 run from 18 mpg combined for a 4x4 5.0L V8 to 24 mpg for the 3.0L Power Stroke diesel, and the 2021 PowerBoost hybrid reaches 25 mpg combined as a 4x2. Gas tanks hold 23 gallons on Regular Cab and SuperCab trucks and 26 gallons on the SuperCrew, with a 36-gallon tank optional.
F-150 bolt pattern and lug nut torque
The F-150 bolt pattern is 6x135 — six lugs on a 135 mm circle — on every 2015 and later truck, so wheels swap between the 13th- and 14th-generation F-150. The lug nuts are M14x1.5, and Ford specifies 150 lb-ft of torque.
F-150 5.0 oil capacity and horsepower
The 5.0L V8 makes 395 hp in the 2020 F-150 and 400 hp in the 2021. Ford's owner's manuals list 8.8 quarts of SAE 5W-20 oil for the 2020 5.0L and 7.75 quarts of SAE 5W-30 for the 2021, both with the filter. The V6 engines take 6.0 quarts and the diesel 6.5 quarts.
