The rumor from the dealer order guide is now official. Ford confirmed that the 2027 F-150 King Ranch and 2027 F-150 Platinum can be ordered with the 5.0-liter V8 again — the first time since 2023 that the two luxury trims offer eight cylinders. It is the headline of a mid-cycle update that also brings a new base engine, fresh grilles and hands-free highway driving while towing.
The F-150 King Ranch V8 returns
For 2026, buyers who wanted the King Ranch or Platinum had to take a twin-turbo V6. For 2027 the F-150 Platinum 5.0 and King Ranch V8 combinations are back, and Ford rates the engine at 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. With that change the 5.0L V8 is now available on every F-150 from the XL to the Platinum; only the Raptor keeps its own supercharged 5.2L V8.
Ford says the decision came straight from customers, and the timing matters: Ram has brought back its Hemi V8, and GM is launching two new V8s in the 2027 Silverado and Sierra.

The new 3.0L EcoBoost replaces the 2.7L EcoBoost it is based on. Peak output stays at 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, but Ford says the bigger engine delivers roughly 10–11% more torque in everyday driving and reaches peak pulling power at lower rpm. Every 2027 F-150 uses a 10-speed automatic.
Other 2027 F-150 changes
- New grilles and wheels on the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. The XLT gets wider grille bars, the Lariat adds chrome, and the King Ranch switches from a three-bar to a two-bar design.
- BlueCruise with towing. Ford's hands-free highway driving now works with a trailer attached, on more than 130,000 miles of pre-mapped Blue Zones. Every 2027 F-150 with an active BlueCruise subscription gets it at no extra cost.
- Cheaper off-roaders. New entry-level Tremor and Raptor packages drop some comfort features but keep the hardware.
- F-150 Carhartt. A new appearance package for the 4x4 XLT SuperCrew with Tremor's hood, Lobo-style headlights, 20-inch wheels and a workwear-inspired cabin; the package costs $4,195.
2027 F-150 release date and price
Order books for the 2027 F-150 opened on September 15, 2026, and Ford says the trucks start arriving at dealers in early 2027. They are built in Dearborn, Michigan, and Kansas City, Missouri.
